The NorthEast Ohio Geocachers Group
(NEOGeocachers) was formed to promote geocaching in the state of
Ohio. Our goal is to educate other outdoor enthusiasts of geocaching
issues through family-oriented activities in order to increase the
awareness of the area's parks and trail systems.
The NEOGeocachers
work as liaisons with park systems and land owners to help protect
our natural resources. We actively participate in, and encourage,
the "Cache In / Trash Out" program to assist in the upkeep
and beautification of our parks and trails.
What are the advantages of joining NEOGeocachers?
The NEOGeocachers provides its membership
with an opportunity to meet with other individuals that share the
same interests. A social element is added to what is often a solitary
sport. The NEOGeocachers also provide educational activities on such topics
as topographical map reading, paperless geocaching, orienteering, compass use, and local
plant identification.
The NEOGeocachers have worked with
the Cleveland Metro Parks, the Geauga Park District, and the Lorain County Parks system on policies regarding
geocaching as an approved activity within their systems. We are looking forward to the possibility of working with
Lake Metroparks to help establish favorable geocaching policies.
